SPANISH FORK, Utah - On Saturday May 21, 2022, many people gathered in Spanish Fork to remember Col. Gail Halvorsen, also known as the "Berlin Candy Bomber." Halvorsen earned that nickname when he began dropping candy over Berlin in 1948 /1949 during the Berlin Airlift. He passed away earlier this year at the age of 101. On Saturday, a "celebration of life" was held at Spanish Fork-Springville Airport. There were flyovers, musical performances, food trucks and activities for children.
